What we collect
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how visitors find us. It collects things like pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. It uses cookies. We do not use it to identify you personally.
- Emails you send us. If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
- Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and comment you enter, plus your IP address and browser details to help catch spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.
- Server and security logs. Our host and our security and performance provider (Cloudflare) automatically log technical data such as IP addresses to keep the site running and protect it from attacks.
Affiliate links and cookies
SaltRail is reader-supported. Some links go to retailers such as Amazon. When you click one, that retailer may set a cookie so it can credit us with a commission if you buy. We never see your name, address or payment details from those purchases. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
How we use information
- To run, secure and improve the site.

- To understand which content is useful.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except with the service providers listed above, or when the law requires it.
Your choices
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. California residents have these rights under the CCPA.
Children
SaltRail is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
